The position provides leadership in accounting services to initiate and administer all accounting systems at Tryon Palace. The position provides accurate and timely data and reports for management and board use in making informed financial and business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution AND two years of progressive related experience, one year of which should be in a supervisory role, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8AM - 5PM
  • Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Demonstrated experience managing and tracking required business reports
  • Demonstrated experience in financial operations within a government agency

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements, applying complex federal and state fiscal regulations.
  • Design and prepare custom reports for multiple stakeholders, i.e, management, state, boards.
  • Analyze and present financial data to Finance and Executive Committees.
  • Train Branch Heads and staff on financial and budget management aspects of their positions.
  • Prepare worksheets, spreadsheets, reconciliations, and supporting data for separate annual independent audits for the Tryon Palace Commission, Tryon Palace Stores, and the Tryon Palace Foundation.
  • Assist management with recording and tracking state funded expenditures.
  • Assist in the annual budget process, providing calculations and projections for funding sources and expenditure requirements.
