About The Position

Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine’s Working Forward initiative. As such, this position is designated as hybrid, with the understanding that the work location may change based on evolving business needs. The Departmental Research Administrator will be an integral part of the Pre-Award Research Office and Support ( PROS ) by independently supervising assigned departments with account management and monitoring, and compliance with government accounting methods, procedures, and practices. The selected candidate will maintain a high level of independent decision-making authority and responsibility and will work closely with the Business Manager to maintain crucial support functions for the assigned departments. This position will provide mentoring and support to team members by offering advice on handling challenges and navigating projects, and encourage collaboration and foster a positive team culture.. The position will apply research administration policy and practices, and specifically, the position will supervise departments with grant administration and management and financial and data management. This would include the full proposal application, maintaining existing electronic filing systems, updating existing databases and advising faculty, postdocs, and graduate students in regard to the rules and regulations of multiple funding agencies, e.g., NIH , DOD , NSF , ACS , AHA , etc. Finally, the position will partner the Business Officer and Director, with any additional ad hoc reporting or special projects.

Requirements

  • Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 yrs experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 yrs experience.
  • Must be able to monitor and manage financial accounts for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and laws.
  • Must be able to manage complex financial areas or programs, including the preparation of financial statements and reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred qualifications include strong verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, is preferred.
