Job Description: Job purpose The Business Office Generalist will support the daily administrative and financial operations Oncology Specialties, PC. This role is responsible for a wide range of front-end and back-end office functions, including insurance verification, billing support, and customer service. Essential Job Functions Perform demographic updates and insurance verification. Obtain referrals as required. Collect copayments, deductibles, and outstanding balances in accordance with practice policies. Assist with charge entry, claim submission, and payment posting. Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, eligibility, and coverage issues. Respond to patient inquiries related to billing, insurance, and account balances. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient and financial records in the practice management system. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and billing procedures. Must be able to prioritize and manage time efficiently. Must have strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Must be able to collaborate effectively across multiple departments. Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have excellent communication and customer service skills. Must have a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and accountability in all aspects of work. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Education/Experience Must have a high school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred. Must have a minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a medical office required, preferably in oncology or a specialty practice. Must be experienced with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems. Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding preferred. Working conditions: This position works in the business office of a busy outpatient oncology/hematology clinic. This position does not have direct patient contact. Physical requirements: This position requires that the employee be able to work at a desk and on a computer for up to eight hours a day. The employee must be able to work via telephone for several hours a day as well. Direct reports This position is not a supervisory position. We are looking for compassionate, adaptable individuals who demonstrate the desire to lead and work together to best treat the patients we serve.
