About The Position

The National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) seeks a dynamic and motivated Business Manager, that will play a pivotal role within NCIT by executing high-level work in the areas of grant and program management. The Business Manager will work under the supervision of the NCIT Director and be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of grants (pre- and post-award), providing guidance to NCIT principal investigators and functional support teams on licensing/intellectual property management in a university setting, and coordinating general business operations to support NCIT’s mission. This position demands a high degree of independence, discretion, and critical thinking. This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of related experience in business, accounting or personnel operations including some supervisory experience.
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others and within a team.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in applicable field.
  • Seven years of related experience.
  • Must possess two years of a specialized hard skill set for pre-award and post-award grant management.
  • Two years of related experience in technology transfer, commercialization, patents, and intellectual property.
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) or Proposal Writing Certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Strong decision making, problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Actively identifies and evaluates funding opportunities such as Notice of Funding Opportunity, Notice of Funding Availability, Request for Proposal, and Request for Application for the purpose of submitting applications and must possess the ability to adhere to funding opportunity deadlines with minimal notice.
  • Writes and develops grant proposals; coordinates submittal of grant proposals/applications in collaboration with the Office of Sponsored Research.
  • Will also provide management, logistical support and guidance in the preparation of proposals, award documents, sponsored agreements and negotiations in accordance with Sponsor guidelines, Uniform Guidance, Prairie View A&M University and the Texas A&M University System policies and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of technical training, research, policy planning, program assessment, workshop development, and administrative activities.
  • Plans, conducts, and/or coordinates technology transfer, commercialization, patents, licensing, and intellectual property tasks.
  • Administers and manages program, provides consulting services and technical assistance in planning, implementation, and monitoring of programs.
  • Prepares, identify, analyze and collects data in preparation of operational and special reports.
  • May develop and maintain financial accounts and budget documents.
  • Analyzes and study internal processes and operations.
  • Recommend and implement procedural or policy changes.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
