The Business Manager serves as the operational and financial backbone of the Enterprise Technology department and is responsible for technology spend management and optimization, departmental KPI tracking and reporting, cross-cutting initiative coordination, and the operational processes that allow ET to run with discipline and accountability. This is a business operations role embedded within a technology organization, requiring financial acumen, project management rigor, and the ability to drive results through influence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in business operations, financial management, program management, or related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience managing departmental budgets of $5M+ and producing financial analysis for senior leadership
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, Teams) and comfort working in data-rich environments
  • Excellent organizational skills with a track record of managing multiple concurrent initiatives and driving accountability across functional teams
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check is a condition of employment
  • Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the AEC industry and/or within a technology organization or professional services firm
  • Familiarity with technology cost structures, including SaaS licensing models, cloud infrastructure pricing, managed services contracts
  • Experience with Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or comparable ERP/business systems
  • Experience with AI tools
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PgMP or similar project/program management certification

Responsibilities

  • Review department budget, including tracking actuals against plan, identifying variances, and producing monthly and quarterly financial reports for the CTO.
  • Monitor and optimize technology spend across all ET groups, including software licensing, SaaS subscriptions, infrastructure costs, and vendor contracts.
  • Partner with KCI Finance to align ET budgeting processes with corporate planning cycles and ensure accurate cost allocation to business units.
  • Develop and maintain a technology cost model that supports KCI’s goal of scaling technology investment as we implement our 5-year strategic plan to achieve our 2030 growth targets.
  • Lead vendor contract reviews and renewals, identifying consolidation opportunities and ensuring KCI receives appropriate value from its technology investments.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a KPI dashboard for ET, covering operational metrics, service levels, project delivery, and financial performance.
  • Produce regular reporting packages for the CTO.
  • Monitor ET’s Internal SLA performance (P1–P4 priority matrix, five-tier support structure, ten defined KPIs) and flag trends or risks.
  • Track and report on AI adoption metrics and other strategic initiative progress as directed by the CTO.
  • Serve as the project lead for cross-cutting ET initiatives (e.g., department documentation, archive digitization, process standardization, and internal audit preparation, etc.).
  • Maintain a master initiative tracker for ET, ensuring visibility into status, dependencies, resource needs, and timelines across all six functional groups.
  • Coordinate quarterly business reviews (QBRs) for the ET department, including agenda preparation, data gathering, and follow-up action tracking.
  • Support the CTO in preparing materials for executive presentations, strategic planning sessions, and board-level reporting.
  • Establish and manage administration of ET department: Timing of meetings, reporting, planning.
  • Establish and manage administration of ET department: Standards of departmental documentation and communication.
  • Establish and manage administration of ET department: Processes including purchase requisitions, vendor onboarding, asset tracking coordination (in partnership with Technology Operations), including process improvements that reduce friction and improve accountability.
  • Serve as the ET liaison for corporate Shared Services functions including Finance, HR, and Legal.
