About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager this position is responsible for underwriting new and existing loan relationships. It reviews, analyzes, and interprets business financial performance. It spreads, assembles, and accurately presents borrower financials. It underwrites and assesses the value of collateral for loan security. It generates analysis summaries of credit for new originations and periodic credit reviews of the existing portfolio. It effectively communicates credit findings to relevant parties. Identifies additional sales opportunities and offers products to borrowers. Business Lending Analysts decision all loans within their respective designated lending authority. When applicable, additional credit approval is obtained from relevant parties. Provides in-depth analysis and underwriting of business, commercial and industrial loan applications. Provides in-depth analysis and review of existing commercial loans. Identifies needs of existing business membership and communicates future opportunities. Provides high quality and professional service to business members. Supports credit union departments and branches. Works with staff to improve operations. Ensures the accuracy of commercial loan applications submitted for committee approval.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Business or related field or equivalent combination of formal training and experience
  • Current Certified Consumer Lending Authority
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, policies, and procedures. Including but not limited to: o consumer lending practices o residential mortgage and home equity lending practices.
  • Understanding of accounting functions, financial statements, and GAAP
  • Understanding of business lending functions
  • Understanding of credit worthiness
  • Understanding of training and development processes
  • Understanding of MS Office software applications.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of progressive credit union/banking experience, in areas where accounting, underwriting, and financial analysis skills were demonstrated.
  • Experience reading, dissecting, and interpreting financial statements required.
  • Experience underwriting credit, identifying credit risk, and mitigating that risk.
  • Experience decisioning credit applications and interpreting credit decisions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent phone skills and professional phone etiquette.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analysis, and financial skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and assignments.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1+ years of progressive business or commercial lending experience.
  • Experience underwriting business credit, identifying risk, and mitigating risk.
  • Experience with decisioning business credit applications and interpreting credit decisions.
  • Knowledge of related computer applications which could include but not limited to: o Inbranch, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Experian, AFR, Collateral 360, Docusign, Box Entity Search for various states, UCC, RealWired, Property Taxes websites, Loanpro, TREX, LexusNexus, Cash Suite

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the analysis, evaluation, and decisioning of business loan applications per credit union policy, procedure, and industry standards
  • Accurately evaluating proposed collateral
  • Supporting management in monitoring the loan portfolio
  • Establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with credit union personnel and with management.
  • Other related duties as required or assigned.
