About The Position

ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assist with dashboards & reports: Build or update basic reports and dashboards under guidance; ensure accuracy and clarity for business users. Run queries & analyze data: Write simple SQL queries, validate results, and present findings in easy-to-understand formats (tables, charts, summaries). Support ad‑hoc requests: Help deliver timely data pulls and one-off analyses for stakeholders; document approach and results. Data profiling & quality checks: Profile datasets, track quality metrics, and flag anomalies; contribute to data cleanup efforts. Requirements gathering & documentation: Sit in on stakeholder sessions, capture reporting needs, and translate them into clear, structured requirements; maintain documentation (definitions, logic, visuals). Testing & troubleshooting: Participate in QA of reports and dashboards; verify calculations, filters, and refresh schedules; help triage minor BI issues. Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with BI, Information Security, IT, DBAs, and business teams; act as a liaison to clarify terminology and ensure shared understanding. Learn & improve: Proactively seek feedback, adopt BI best practices for visualization and storytelling, and share ideas to enhance usability. Complete assigned projects to impact the department or organization. Gain an understanding of degree utilization in the workplace. Cross train in other departments as desired. Observe and train with team members to understand various departmental processes.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly—both in writing and verbally—with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Detail‑oriented with a systematic approach to testing and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or Power BI and dashboard design principles.
  • Exposure to data modeling concepts (dimensions/facts, star schema) and basic ETL ideas.
  • Exhibits strong analytical, organizational, public speaking, and critical thinking skills.
  • Conveys a productive attitude, takes initiative, works independently, and exhibits a strong work ethic.
  • Interacts effectively with individuals and groups of all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • PC experience in a Microsoft Windows environment; proficient with internet, email, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Able to type data and use a PC for long periods of time.
  • Undergraduate students in good standing at either a junior or senior level, OR Graduate students working towards a Master’s degree.
  • Major or academic focus in one or more of the following programs: Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in creating simple reports, business presentations, or process diagrams (e.g., flowcharts, wireframes).
