About The Position

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) leads the nation’s efforts to advance mental health through research, training, and public education focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness. NIMH conducts and supports scientific research across biological, behavioral, clinical, and social domains, and disseminates findings to improve mental health outcomes and services. Business Intelligence Developers design, develop, and maintain data analysis and reporting solutions for NIMH, translating business requirements into dashboards, reports, and visual presentations. This role involves analyzing data from multiple sources, creating ETL processes, developing dashboards for target audiences, and providing technical recommendations. Strong skills in BI platforms (especially Power BI), relational and dimensional databases, stored procedures, and clear communication are essential, along with the ability to produce technical documentation and implement best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of relevant, applicable professional experience.
  • Senior Developer with expertise in designing and developing business intelligence capabilities across a variety of disciplines.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in presenting analysis results in Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to meeting participants and upper management.
  • Demonstrated experience with PowerBI and ServiceNow Reporting.
  • Experience with ETL.
  • Experience with stored procedure writing.
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Experience with dimensional databases.
  • Experience with GitHub.
  • Exceptional analytical skills.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting NIH/NIMH programs.
  • Experience with Python is a plus.
  • Experience in Qlik Sense, Erwin, Pentaho, and Toad is a plus.
  • Experience with Business Analysis is a plus.
  • Power BI Certification: Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops NIMH-wide data analysis and reporting solutions.
  • Reviews and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources.
  • Develops and maintains complex ETL processes using Pentaho ETL.
  • Designs and creates multiple dashboards that display selected data for specific audiences.
  • Researches and evaluates technical solutions and provides recommendations for given requirements.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation.
  • Assists with the establishment and creation of standard processes and procedures for Business Intelligence industry best practices.
  • Translates business and/or functional requirements into dashboards, reports, or visual presentations .
  • Act as Technical Lead on projects and assist with project artifacts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
