About The Position

provide critical support and technical guidance to the Perelman School of Medicine in data analysis, reporting, and visualization. They will work closely with UPHS IT and PSOM Applications Development teams to ensure dashboard development and maintenance coordination. This position will report to the Senior IT Project Leader for dashboard development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an analytical discipline and 2 to 3 years of experience in database management, development, or analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Access, Excel, and large data warehouses is needed.
  • Experience using warehouse data querying tools (Webi, Deski) and other data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, others) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with databases and query languages such as MSSQL, Oracle, T-SQL, or PL/SQL.
  • Experience in report designing, development, and deployment.
  • Experience in data analysis.
  • Experience in general reporting methodologies, including but not limited to charts, scheduled delivery of reports, ad-hoc execution of reports, metadata, and drill-downs/throughs.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and data presentation techniques.
  • Experience in producing documentation and organizing training and education.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, excellent communication, and customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of health system personnel, including IT management, consulting staff, clinicians, hospital administrators, etc.
  • Ability to prioritize developmental and operational tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior financial analysis experience and knowledge of financial systems are desirable.
  • Experience using warehouse data querying tools (Webi, Deski) and other data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlikview, others) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a School-wide resource for reporting and dashboard development.
  • Provide technical and functional support for departments wanting to develop specialized dashboards.
  • Maintain existing School dashboards that cover all areas of the School’s operations, financial activity, and related metrics.
  • Work with School leadership to identify and develop metrics for all aspects of School operations and missions, transactional, strategic, and projections.
  • Support the development of critical metrics the highest-level leadership uses for strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Work with systems developers to develop new dashboards and implement other tools to disseminate reports and metrics to users.
  • Continually assess emerging technology and create new visualizations and other tools.
  • Develop templates and create “approved” and curated datasets for use by all PSOM PowerBI developers at both the School-wide and departmental levels.
  • Streamline and improve the security model in both existing and future PowerBI reports.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the data sources used across School activities (e.g., faculty, staff, students, finance, space, research, education, compliance, and other operational and strategic areas) to support reporting, dashboard development, and user needs.
  • As assigned, represent the School on University application/warehouse development teams.
  • Ensure that the School’s needs are addressed in the resulting applications and warehouses.
