About The Position

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on building scalable data models, developing intuitive reports and dashboards, and supporting deployment and adoption across the business.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field.
2+ years’ development experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar.
1-2 years’ experience in writing SQL (or similar).
Strong proficiency in DAX, M, and SQL for data modeling, queries, and optimization.
Experience building scalable, efficient data models for reporting and analysis.
Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes (e.g., SSIS, Talend, Apache NiFi, Airbyte, Informatica).
Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
Skilled in developing user-friendly, visually effective dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards.
Understanding of data visualization best practices and UX/UI principles.
Experience validating data accuracy and performance of BI reports.
Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and in remote or distributed teams.
Committed to continuous learning and promoting data-driven decision-making.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of data warehouse architectures (star/snowflake schemas) and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL), preferred.
Familiarity with HIPAA, regulated environments, and/or lab systems (e.g., LIMS), preferred.
Experience with issue-tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Freshservice), preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop new and maintain existing BI reports, dashboards, and queries.
Work closely with Business Analysts and stakeholders to understand task requirements.
Perform unit testing to verify data accuracy and integrity.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BI solutions.
Documentation of BI processes, data models, and system configurations.
Perform ad-hoc data analysis as needed.
Assist in the administration of the BI ecosystem (publish models/reports, schedule refreshes, etc.).
Assist business users with using published reports/dashboards.
