About The Position

The Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role focuses on building scalable data models, developing intuitive reports and dashboards, and supporting deployment and adoption across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years’ development experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in writing SQL (or similar).
  • Strong proficiency in DAX, M, and SQL for data modeling, queries, and optimization.
  • Experience building scalable, efficient data models for reporting and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and processes (e.g., SSIS, Talend, Apache NiFi, Airbyte, Informatica).
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Skilled in developing user-friendly, visually effective dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards.
  • Understanding of data visualization best practices and UX/UI principles.
  • Experience validating data accuracy and performance of BI reports.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in remote or distributed teams.
  • Committed to continuous learning and promoting data-driven decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of data warehouse architectures (star/snowflake schemas) and relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL), preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, regulated environments, and/or lab systems (e.g., LIMS), preferred.
  • Experience with issue-tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Freshservice), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new and maintain existing BI reports, dashboards, and queries.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts and stakeholders to understand task requirements.
  • Perform unit testing to verify data accuracy and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to BI solutions.
  • Documentation of BI processes, data models, and system configurations.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis as needed.
  • Assist in the administration of the BI ecosystem (publish models/reports, schedule refreshes, etc.).
  • Assist business users with using published reports/dashboards.
