The Business Intelligence Data Engineer is knowledgeable with requirement gathering, stored procedure design and development, ETL design and development, multidimensional/tabular model design and development, assisting users with UAT, and a heavy emphasis on visualization and report development. Works within the Microsoft Technology Stack, including Azure Portal, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, and PowerBI, requiring knowledge of star schemas and dimensional modeling concepts. The position will support a culture of data-driven decision-making by democratizing access to data, ensuring the quality of data, reporting, and tools, and supporting stakeholders with guidance on how to use them. This role requires an organized and dependable individual with strong communication skills and the ability to complete tasks accurately and on time. The position supports the team and organization by assisting with day-to-day activities, completing assigned projects, and contributing to efforts that advance organizational goals and uphold core values, while enhancing member/service outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in computer science, MIS, mathematics, or related field, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams to coordinato tasks and achieve shared objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with management, coworkers, and business users, consistently delivering high-quality results. 
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Two to three years of recent experience working as a Data Engineer.
  • Two to three years of experience writing advanced SQL queries.
  • Two to three years of experience designing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent tools.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud technologies, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, required.
  • Must be proficient in computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within credit unions and/or financial institutions, strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and ability to manage multiple concurrent efforts.
  • Ability to perform effectively under tight delivery deadlines with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Apply strong business acumen and technical knowledge to partner with PSCU leadership to understand strategic goals, business requirements, and operational challenges, and to design BI solutions aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Consult with business leaders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements, translating complex needs into effective BI and reporting solutions.
  • Provide actionable insights and analytical reporting to support data-driven decision-making for executives and teams across the organization.
  • Exercise discrection and independent judgement to design, develop, and deliver Microsoft PowerBI reporting solutions for stakeholders.
  • Transform complex data into intuitive, interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations that support collaboration and strategic decision making.
  • Create and deliver PowerBI data visualizations, ensuring insights are clearly translated and effectively communicated to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Design and implement innovative solutions leveraging database software and reporting tools.
  • Perform responsibilities using system development lifecycle (SDLC) includingstakeholder requirement elicitation, prototyping, develop code, conduct UAT, and deliver data visualizations in PowerBI reports.
  • Own the User Acceptance Test (UAT) process by developing test plans, defining testing scenarios and acceptance criteria, and overseeing the execution of UAT case testing.
  • Develop and program complex SQL stored procedures, views, and functions using Transact Structured Query Language (T-SQL), efficient coding techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Provide procedural programming expertise within the SQL Server, writing efficient and optimized SQL queries, and clear, well-documented, and readable code.
  • Maintain SQL queries, procedures, and program code using source control tools and adhere to established change management process for migration.
  • Promote advanced software and data management practices, including complex data operations, modularity, and reusability; ensure data integrity through secure data access interfaces; and facilitate prototype testing to accurate and efficient implementation of software modifications.
  • Independently transform complex data into interactive reports, dashboards, and visual formats to support collaboration and sharing among stakeholders.

  • Provide back-up and support to management, as directed.
  • Performs special projects and other responsibilities, as directed.
