JOB TITLE: Business Intelligence Analyst SUPERVISOR: Business Applications Manager HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs/Exempt (Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm) DEPARTMENT: Information Technology HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days The following information is designed to outline the essential functions and position requirements of this job. PRIMARY FUNCTION: To act as the primary resource dedicated to designing, building, testing and activating and maintaining reports using Epic reporting tools. Gathers business needs, document requirements, identify appropriate data sources, develop and update reporting objects and analyses, and deliver solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Services or a related IS or healthcare field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Epic application certification.
  • Epic Clarity certification or achieve certification within 6 months of hire.
  • 4 years business intelligence analyst experience or 2 years relevant healthcare experience with 2 years business intelligence or systems analyst experience.
  • Aptitude and willingness for learning new processes and software applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar and spelling for use in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks without direct supervision.
  • Maintains calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Critical thinking and an analytical mind.
  • Familiarity or aptitude to learn Epic applications and database structure.
  • Ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model.
  • Prior experience working in a healthcare environment, including use and experience supporting an EHR system.
  • Ability to translate user requirements into functional and design specifications.
  • Strong organization, time management, project management, and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with report writing tools, including Clarity, Crystal Reports, Epic Reporting Workbench, and/or SAP Business Objects.

  • Experience in a clinical, administrative, financial, or technology department in healthcare setting is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience producing business or clinical report documents from source databases.
  • Comfort with relational database concepts.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, problem solve, and develop solutions.
  • Experience with Visio software to document workflows and diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Validate Model System reports and identify advanced reporting needs with report consumers.
  • Meet with application coordinators and report consumers to understand their reporting needs.
  • Create design specifications for new reports.
  • Identify and validate the appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs.
  • Create new reports, using a third-party report writing tool, to display Clarity data.
  • Modify existing reports, as necessary.
  • Perform data analysis and data validation to ensure accurate reporting results.
  • Serve as a knowledge and reporting resource in various Clinical Quality reporting initiatives.
  • Design, develop and maintain efficient SQL code.
  • Develop and utilize query and reporting standards to ensure a high degree of consistency surrounding layout and usability of reports.
  • Coordinate with users, technical analyst, and database administrators to monitor system data integrity and to coordinate corrections to either the data, or resulting queries and reports.
  • Collaborate with application analysts to build reports specific to functional area.
  • Receive, analyze, and resolve Helpdesk requests.
  • Coordinate the timely delivery and distribution of queries and reports.
  • Analyze and develop access strategies to ensure high-availability end-user generated reporting which will not negatively impact system response time.
  • Participate in project planning as a member of the IT department.
  • Champion the project, provide support in the ongoing implementations, optimizations, and upgrades.
  • Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
  • Assist in system upgrades or enhancements to existing workflows.
  • Assists in developing and maintain documentation and procedures as needed.
  • Provide system configuration and new project development, design implementation, workflow optimization, change management, and issue resolution related to reporting.
  • Use independent analysis and research issues to produce solution options including pros, cons, risks, benefits, and unintended consequences.
  • Collaborate with other IT analysts and vendors to identify system optimization and enhancements in order to design and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform work and duties after hours and on weekends as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled.
