(https://youtu.be/OZ2kSzAaXK4?si=sDgZ7DZUbMnBddMq) We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team at Wolters Kluwer’s highly innovative Legal & Regulatory Division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data transformation, business intelligence, and data visualization. They will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets and providing actionable insight to support business decision-making across a range of functions including product, pricing, strategy, marketing and sales. They will have exceptional capability in creating complex SQL queries and Python scripts that execute complex data transformations and deliver a range of outcomes (such as enhancing 360-customer views or integrating data from a variety of sources into a consistent level of aggregation or time sequence). To do this, they will need to build up a detailed and highly nuanced knowledge of the data over time. The BI Team has a large code base (SQL queries and Python files) that it created which powers its data warehouse which in turn powers the team’s data visualizations, prescriptive analytics tools, statistical analysis and machine learning assets. You will need to be very comfortable reviewing, understanding, building off and contributing to this existing code base. You will be supported by colleagues in the BI team in this process, but you must have a high level of self-motivation, intelligence and curiosity to review the code to find an answer or reference needed with minimal supervision over time. You will be spending up to 25% of your time providing support to the team’s Data Engineer maintaining, expanding and optimizing the BI Team’s data warehouse and data pipeline architecture providing key back up when the Data Engineer is not available. You will need to be comfortable and highly capable of interacting with stakeholders directly over time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in data science, statistics, math, economics, engineering, computer science or a related field
  • 1-3+ years of professional data analysis experience
  • Advanced capability in SQL (additional experience with Python preferred)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity (or strong interest) in data warehouse technologies such as AWS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly collaborative and highly technical
  • Team-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, success-driven, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, experience or strong interest in using agile methodologies
  • Ability to translate business questions into problems solvable using analytics tools, and enjoy converting the results of analyses into visual narratives tailored to the needs of the audience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and have experience working on and communicating with fast-paced, dynamic teams
  • Comfortable working under pressure to deadlines while keeping a cool head and still working collaboratively
  • Strong working proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must have authorization to work in the US

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
  • Create large scale data transformations utilizing SQL and Python
  • Create, enhance and maintain business intelligence dashboards and reports in Tableau and Power BI as well as maintain our Tableau Server configuration
  • Generate tools and prescriptive analytics assets that are utilized by stakeholders
  • Execute Hypothesis testing and statistical analysis
  • Articulate complex data insights into clearly digestible stories that can be rapidly understood by stakeholders
  • Support and provide back up to the Data Engineer on the team maintaining, growing and optimizing the BI Team’s data warehouse (AWS, S3, EC2, Redshift, Talend)
