We are seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team. Summary of Duties The primary purpose of this position is to provide reporting and analytical support for programs across the Oregon Department of Human Services by developing, maintaining, and enhancing business intelligence and reporting solutions. This position functions within a collaborative team environment and supports a wide range of program areas by translating business needs into meaningful, accurate, and visually effective reports and dashboards. This position is responsible for developing both paginated reports and interactive business intelligence reports using enterprise reporting tools such as Power BI. To perform this work, the position requires a strong understanding of database environments, the ability to query and interpret data from multiple systems, and the ability to work with complex data structures and business processes. This position requires strong communication and analytical skills to gather, clarify, and document business requirements from program staff and stakeholders. The position works closely with data warehouse team members, report developers, analysts, and program staff to identify reporting needs, define data requirements, and ensure that reports align with established business rules and data governance standards. The person in this position must be able to design reports and dashboards that effectively communicate data through tables, charts, graphics, and other visual elements. This position also requires creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to think beyond standard reporting approaches to develop solutions that best meet business needs. The position must follow existing department standards, reporting practices, ODHS Data Office governance standards, research methodologies, and data governance processes to ensure the quality, consistency, security, and usefulness of reporting products delivered across ODHS.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and two years experience using advanced statistical reports or quantitative analysis computer applications OR Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.
  • Experience working with business partners to determine their needs and capturing requirements for each project.
  • Knowledge of Power BI Service platform including publishing, security, data refresh processes and DAX development
  • Experience developing paginated reports using dashboards, interactive reports using Power BI
  • Experience querying and analyzing data using SQL and using other database environments
  • Skilled in conveying complex information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in written form
  • Experience and skilled with developing strong, collaborative relationships; supports team cohesion

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Child Welfare systems, business processes, and data structures is preferred and may be beneficial in supporting program-specific reporting needs.
