As a Supervisor at Sandia Area, you play a key role in guiding and supporting your team to achieve operational goals and deliver exceptional member experiences. You are responsible for fostering a culture of trust and accountability while ensuring team alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. By mentoring staff and addressing day-to-day challenges, you contribute to a workplace environment that promotes collaboration, service excellence, and long-term success. Reporting directly to the VP of Business Insights & Application Engineering, the Business Insights Lead is responsible for overseeing the Business Insights staff and resources dedicated to achieving operational goals. The Business Insights Lead plays a key role in mentoring junior team members on data engineering best practices, transforming raw data into actionable insights using ETL processes, SQL, Python, and Pandas and also building reports using SSRS or Power BI.

Requirements

Expertise in Data Engineering, Data Modelling and Programming with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.
Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation, including DML, DDL, PL/SQL, and query tuning.
Strong knowledge of ETL processes, data pipeline development, and workflow orchestration.
Advanced knowledge of Python with emphasis on pandas for data analysis and manipulation.
Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation, including DML, DDL, PL/SQL, and query tuning.
Experience with dimensional modeling using Kimball methodology.
Familiarity with Streamlit or other web development frameworks like JavaScript.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to convey goals, set expectations, provide feedback, and inspire and develop teams.
Strong leadership, time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Ability to analyze data and metrics to drive team performance and efficiency.
Willingness to engage in difficult situations using outstanding interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.

Bachelor's degree in related field
Directly related experience, in addition to minimum years required, may be considered as a substitution.
Four (4) year(s) of applicable experience required with progressive responsibilities in a leadership capacity.
Minimum four years of data engineering or business intelligence experience required with progressive responsibilities in a leadership capacity.

Prior supervisory experience desired.
General knowledge of credit unions or financial institutions is preferred.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise staff with the goal of enhancing professional development and personal growth.
Develop staffing plans and schedules to ensure effective coverage and team balance.
Act as an escalation point for complex data pipeline and reporting issues.
Build and lead a high-performing data analytics team; set performance targets, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and encourage innovation.
Train and mentor staff on data warehousing best practices, data modeling, and query optimization.
Design and implement ETL processes using Python and tools like SSIS.
Create and maintain data pipelines and workflow orchestration with Apache Airflow.
Develop reports and dashboards using SSRS or Power BI to visualize key business metrics.
Build interactive data applications using Streamlit.
Develop Python scripts utilizing pandas for, Data cleansing and transformation, Statistical analysis and aggregations.
Use Time-series analysis where applicable.
Implement data models using Kimball methodology.
Collaborate with IT teams on infrastructure and systems that support data initiatives.
Use scripting languages like Python, Powershell to automate processes.
Ensure data integrity and quality across all Business Insights initiatives.
Conduct periodic audits of data processes and pipelines.
Maintain documentation of data sources, transformations, and business rules.
Ensure all data handling complies with information security policies like PCI, PII and other regulatory requirements.
Develop dashboards and reports using SSRS, Power BI, Matplotlib, or Seaborn.
Work with business leadership on any adhoc reports needed for compliance reporting, audits etc.
Implement automated report delivery systems to ensure timely distribution of insights to stakeholders.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding the organization’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions and responsibilities.
Represent the credit union with professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times.
Maintain a thorough understanding and strict adherence to credit union regulations, compliance requirements, policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
