Listed within this posting is the anticipated salary range for this position, plus variable incentive compensation. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary and will be dependent on several factors that include, but are not limited to, your business experience, education, and individual capacity. THE OPPORTUNITY: This position is a development position for the Business Development Specialist role. It involves completing a 12-to-15-month structured training program on commercial insurance, agency engagement, and territory management including course work and a review of coverage forms. During the training program, this position will also assist the underwriter by reviewing and preparing renewals and endorsements, learn to manage our agent’s portal, and becoming proficient in agency engagement including travel to various territories throughout our footprint. By the end of the program, you will be prepared to independently manage agency relationships, evaluate commercial risks, and contribute directly to profitable growth. LOCATION: Hybrid (Bel Air, MD Office)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field, or equivalent education, 0-1 years industry experience
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% throughout our writing footprint
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Required to relocate to a business development territory (PA, NJ) after completion of training

Nice To Haves

  • Participation in insurance industry course work preferred (AU, CIC, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the structured underwriting training program.
  • Review and process endorsement requests and correspondence within established authority level.
  • Learn the Agency Engagement function through training
  • Prepare for and participate in Agency Visits, Agency Outings, and Industry Events.
