About The Position

Primarily responsible for providing a new business focused sales support function by managing the new business process. This role includes the managing of projects that originate from outside sales account managers, customer service representatives or Sur-Seal’s key suppliers. This person will work on new projects to ensure timely process definition and quotation of new parts to customers. It is also expected that the individual will closely coordinate internal projects to analyze accounts to determine profitability, growth and decline of key customers.

Requirements

  • Have a working knowledge of the converting industry and Mueller’s manufacturing process.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and ensure requirements are appropriately applied to the method of manufacturing including inspection activities.
  • Have a basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance such as symbols, location, and profile.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or (5) years Customer Service or Project Planner experience.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in and/or supplying to the Aerospace/Aviation/Aircraft market, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with and/or interpreting Aerospace/Aviation/Aircraft drawings, strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Product Management, Costing, Quoting, Pricing related activities, strongly preferred.
  • Project Management with OEM Manufacturing experience, ideally in or related to Aerospace/Aviation/Aircraft projects/products, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with and/or interpreting MIL/ASTM/SAE/AMS Knowledge of material Specifications and AS-9100 Quality Requirements would be preferred.
  • Experience working with EMI/RFI, Thermal Management, and/or Elastomeric materials would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate information directly to outside customers and customer service representatives in response to new business opportunities. These include but are not limited to quotations, material recommendations, samples and material data sheets.
  • Customer order processing and checking entered orders for accuracy when necessary in compliance with contract review procedures.
  • Organize critical info and process the setup of new items including the setup of the method for new items.
  • When necessary manage new items through the first article approval process to ensure new customers/projects are given extra attention.
  • Act as a “supplier project coordinator” ensuring that all projects that originate from supplier leads are acted upon. This function will ensure that Mueller maintains a strong relationship with our suppliers and that Mueller is the first choice for our suppliers when deciding to which converter leads should be given.
  • Monitor each project closely after quotation and sample submission to ensure that each project is followed up to insure that Mueller has the best chance of being awarded the new business.
  • Work with the CSR on the process by which revision changes to parts are implemented (part change format) per Mueller’s policies and procedures. Once these changes are made, the individual will determine the effect of these changes on profitability and recommend price increases if necessary.
  • Conduct account-by-account, part-by-part analysis for key customers to determine parts that do not have an acceptable level of profitability. Initiate projects based on this analysis to improve profitability by cost reduction or price increases.
  • Evaluate part costs after raw material price increases to ensure that margin and profitability is protected using the system.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations to determine parts that we have lost at an account and the reasons for the loss. Work with the salesperson to contact the account and try to determine the reasons for discontinuance of the business.
