About The Position

At Senior Care Authority of San Diego, we assist clients and their families with the transition from home to senior living, offering options and support during and after an often delicate and challenging time. We remove the legwork and logistical obstacles in finding the best assisted living, memory care, or other residential living for our clients while helping families wade through the thousands of senior living options in San Diego County. Our job is to present all care options, traverse a complex healthcare system, and connect our clients to vetted local resources. As we move into a growth phase, we’re seeking a Business Development Specialist to join our San Diego team in a hybrid role. The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for cultivating and managing referral relationships to generate qualified leads for Senior Care Authority’s placement and consulting services. The BDS builds partnerships with healthcare professionals, senior living communities, and community organizations to increase brand visibility and drive new client opportunities throughout San Diego County. This is a unique opportunity for someone who excels at establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients and families, staff members, and the general public. This is a crucial role in the organization for an experienced sales professional in the senior/healthcare arena, and requires an energetic, relationship-oriented professional who is comfortable working independently in the field, communicating with healthcare and senior care providers, and representing Senior Care Authority with professionalism and compassion. This is an outside sales exempt position

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license, current insurance, and reliable transportation required for field work in San Diego area.
  • Proven experience in healthcare, senior living, or related business development/sales roles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders and team members.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (Salesforce experience preferred).
  • Effective organizational and follow-up skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or relevant field preferred.
  • Existing healthcare/geriatrics relationships in the target market a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and expand referral relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, home health and hospice agencies, discharge planners, case managers, and other professionals.
  • Conduct regular in-person visits, presentations, and outreach events to promote Senior Care Authority’s services.
  • Attend community events, networking groups, and professional associations relevant to senior care and healthcare.
  • Coordinate with the Placement Specialist and supervisor to ensure effective handoff and follow-through for all client referrals.
  • Document all outreach activities, contacts, and outcomes in the company CRM (Salesforce).
  • Maintain a consistent presence in the field, spending the majority of time meeting potential partners and referral sources throughout the territory.
