About The Position

We’re TimbukTech, a small, relationship-first IT services company with over 20 years of serving small businesses in central and west central Illinois. We need a Business Development Coordinator who lives these values and will keep them front and center while identifying and connecting with the right local businesses. You’ll join our close-knit Client Partnerships Team and focus on finding and pre-qualifying great-fit prospects who can truly benefit from our IT support. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with our IT Business Consultants every day—sharing insights, collaborating on outreach, and making sure we only bring in clients who align with our strict criteria for established, process-oriented businesses. Your job is to build genuine connections, spot opportunities to help local businesses succeed, protect the quality of our client relationships, and contribute to marketing that feels authentic and helpful.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in B2B prospecting, business development, or relationship-focused outreach (IT services experience is a big plus).
  • Superb communication skills—warm, professional, and confident in face-to-face and video conversations.
  • A natural at building rapport quickly: empathy, active listening, and asking the right questions to understand a business’s real needs.
  • Strong time management and independence—you thrive juggling tasks and traveling independently.
  • Comfortable with basic CRM tools (we keep it simple) and Microsoft 365 apps.
  • A curious, innovative mindset—you love fresh ideas and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo thoughtfully.

Responsibilities

  • Identify qualified local businesses that match our ideal client profile—established companies with real needs we can help solve.
  • Conduct thoughtful outreach through in-person visits (up to a 60-mile radius—we provide a company car), personalized videos, emails, and templates.
  • Have confident, business-level conversations with decision-makers you’ve never met—asking great questions, listening deeply, and uncovering challenges or opportunities where we can make a meaningful difference.
  • Strictly pre-qualify prospects to ensure they’re a strong fit before moving them forward—no forcing it, just finding the right matches.
  • Help shape and execute our honest, low-key marketing—contributing to newsletters, social media posts, and content that tells our story and attracts the right businesses.
  • Get involved in community events and professional groups to position yourself (and TimbukTech) as a trusted, knowledgeable resource in our area.
  • Keep clear records of leads, conversations, and next steps in our simple CRM.
  • Review what’s working in outreach and share ideas to make things smoother and more effective.
  • Collaborate with the team to spot patterns, celebrate small wins, and keep us focused on people over pressure.
