About The Position

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking a Business Development Representative (Part-Time) to partner with our experienced Municipal Sales team in this environmentally focused industry. This is a part-time position that must be available at least 16 hours each week (Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm). A Business Development Representative (Part-Time) at Smith and Loveless is responsible for supporting the field sales force for Pumping equipment with marketing outreach efforts primarily focused on promoting the use of the Smith and Loveless trailer mounted pump stations throughout the country. The effort will consist of researching websites for contacts to call to find out about current practices in pumping and their collection needs, at the same time exposing them to the above grade pumping concept of S&L.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years’ experience with water and wastewater treatment equipment preferred but not required.
  • Effective communication, human relations, presentation, and sales ability.
  • Possess conceptualization and negotiation skills along with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to quickly establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Ability to sort and organize raw data.
  • Required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to talk and hear consistently.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
  • Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in telemarketing outreach is a plus.
  • Customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provides out-bound sales initiatives to increase market awareness.
  • Coordinates and schedules presentations/meetings on S&L products and trailer visits.
  • Provides timely and accurate technical information to the field on scheduled meetings/presentations and follows up regularly.
  • Assists with technical presentations for visiting Customers and reps.
  • Provides presentations to the field to open discussions on S&L equipment.
  • Reviews and edits new catalog literature and specs, creates new specs when required.
  • Provides technical knowledge to assist Department Sales Managers and reps in the sale of S&L pumping products.
  • Keeps abreast of competitive products and processes and recommends marketing strategy.
  • Assists the Sales Managers, as required, in setting up select projects and following them through to receipt of purchase orders.
  • Other duties as assigned by VP Municipal Systems and Pumping Managers.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean.
