About The Position

Reporting to the Director, USA Southwest, the Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a key role in driving Richards’ growth by identifying, validating, and onboarding net new customers within an assigned territory. This is a professional sales role focused on presenting, promoting, and selling our Industrial Packaging Distribution products while exceeding sales and margin targets. The ideal candidate thrives in a competitive environment, brings a true hunter mentality, and excels at building strong customer relationships. This is a full-time, hybrid position, and travel is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of successful sales experience (rigid packaging experience preferred).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build ROI‑based business cases and sell value‑driven solutions.
  • Technical understanding of rigid packaging (glass, plastic, metal, closures).
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage shifting priorities.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong hunter mentality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prospect high‑potential new customers within your assigned territory.
  • Build and maintain a curated list of strategic and traditional prospects.
  • Conduct customer visits, presentations, product training, and sales events.
  • Develop and execute territory plans, call cycles, and growth strategies.
  • Manage your sales pipeline from lead generation through deal closure.
  • Onboard new customers and ensure a smooth transition into ongoing account management.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and complete daily sales reporting.
  • Represent Richards at industry trade shows and customer training sessions.
