About The Position

Drive strategic growth at a premier global law firm serving the innovation economy. Gunderson Dettmer, a leading law firm exclusively dedicated to the global venture ecosystem, is looking for a new Business Development Manager to shape marketing initiatives, strengthen strategic relationships, and advance the firm’s growth strategy. The Manager is central to connecting attorneys with key players in the venture and startup world and enhancing the firm’s influence in a highly competitive market. The role in action: Build strategic relationships with founders, investors, and other influential players across the startup and venture community to accelerate business development efforts, drive business growth, and strengthen the firm’s competitive position. Lead strategic sponsorship and partnership initiatives to enhance brand exposure and elevate the firm’s reputation within venture and startup communities in New York City and support activities in Ann Arbor and Washington, D.C. Develop and execute a range of impactful events, including client dinners, workshops, and thought leadership programs, optimizing strategies through ROI analysis and performance insights. Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys, offering insights on market trends, industry developments, and business opportunities. Work with the marketing team to develop targeted marketing materials, RFP responses, and client presentations that highlight the firm’s experience and value proposition. Partner with the communications team to promote events, sponsorships, and firm initiatives across various channels. Lead the development of a direct report, providing mentorship, guidance, and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bring 7+ years of experience in business development within the professional services, legal, startup, or venture capital environment.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Excel at building strong relationships, bringing fresh ideas, and engaging confidently with diverse personalities while working hands-on as a resilient, results-driven team player with sharp planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
