We are seeking a senior, results-driven Business Development Manager to lead growth for our Construction Group Florida & Caribbean Division. This is a true sales leadership role with direct revenue accountability, intended for professionals who can originate, position, and close construction deals, not simply manage relationships or generate activity. Role Expectations & Revenue Accountability This role is defined by closed deals and backlog growth, not activity, visibility, or passive relationships. As Business Development Manager, you own the entire sales process—from opportunity identification through contract execution. You are accountable for building, managing, and converting a disciplined, private-sector-focused sales pipeline that results in awarded construction work. Success in this role is defined by consistently closing private development projects (CMAR, negotiated GMP, design-assist, or strategically controlled hard bids). While public-sector work may occur, isolated or “lucky” municipal awards do not define success unless they are the result of intentional business development efforts. This role is not measured by: Public or municipal awards unrelated to active sales leadership Being on bid lists without proactive pursuit strategy Long-standing relationships that produce work without disciplined execution Proposal volume without predictable conversion This role is measured by: Closed private-sector development deals New repeat private clients and developers (originated by this manager) Predictable pipeline conversion and backlog growth Intentional deal creation and execution You are expected to actively originate, position, and close work, not wait for solicitations or rely on market timing Company-Wide Business Development Leadership You are responsible not only for performing business development activities yourself, but for managing business development across the division and collaborating with business development managers from all other divisions.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating BD efforts throughout Florida & the USVI
  • Holding regular Business Development (BD) meetings with estimating, operations, and leadership teams
  • Ensuring teams throughout the company are actively attacking business development efforts within their respective areas of responsibility
  • Creating accountability, urgency, and clarity around opportunity ownership, strategy, and next steps
  • Removing internal obstacles that delay or prevent deal execution
  • Own the sales pipeline from lead identification through contract award
  • Drive pursuits forward and ensure alignment across estimating, preconstruction, and operations
  • Partner directly with the Chief Estimator to align pursuit strategy, pricing, and risk
  • Actively support and drive deals to close, not hand them off
  • Take responsibility for hitting company revenue and backlog goals
  • Owning and continuously updating the Construction Group bid pipeline and bid calendar
  • Identifying, tracking, and procuring public-sector and municipal bid opportunities aligned with company capabilities
  • Vetting public-sector opportunities and presenting qualified leads to the estimating team, who will take the lead on bid execution
  • Coordinating go/no-go discussions to ensure strategic alignment and efficient use of estimating resources
  • Ensuring estimating has the information, timing, and support required to pursue public work effectively
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the company’s private development presence in Florida
  • Proactively identify, pursue, and secure opportunities aligned with company capabilities and strategic goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, owners, architects, engineers, and owner’s representatives
  • Position the company early in project lifecycles to influence delivery method, team formation, and scope
  • Track all active pursuits and manage the bid calendar
  • Lead or support go/no-go evaluations for both private and public opportunities
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction, Project Management, Field Operations, and Marketing to support winning strategies
  • Review, proofread, and finalize proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and professional presentation
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and manage post-bid follow-up through contract execution
