About The Position

A successful Business Development Manager will be a self-starter who is proactive in identifying new business opportunities, knowledgeable about the legal industry, and able to execute efficiently to achieve measurable business development results. This position would work to support our Workplace Solutions practice group as well as provide support to our Government Affairs and Regulatory Law group.    Salary in the range of $95,000 - $130,000 dependent on location and experience level

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in business development and/or marketing, preferably in a law firm environment
  • Strong understanding of law firm structures and the role of business development and marketing teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to propose and implement solutions that drive sales and revenue
  • Ability to provide guidance and strategic suggestions to partners
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties of the role

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of business plans and targeted initiatives for the practice group and its partners
  • Draft and coordinate customized pitches, client presentations, and responses to RFPs tailored to each client’s business and preferences
  • For RFPs, analyze requirements, participate in strategy development, draft comprehensive responses, and collaborate with partners and business development team members across practice groups and offices
  • Conduct and summarize research on new and prospective clients, competitive intelligence, and market conditions using tools such as Westlaw and Lexis, in preparation for client meetings, pitches, RFPs, and other initiatives
  • Prepare submissions for legal directories and research guides, including drafting, editing, organizing submissions, coordinating researcher interviews, and tracking rankings and accolades
  • Develop, draft, organize, and maintain marketing collateral and experience content, including practice area profiles, brochures, matter lists, website content, and intranet materials
  • Maintain and build practice-specific contact lists within the Firm-wide CRM system (InterAction)
  • Identify, plan, and provide logistical support for internal and external marketing events, speaking engagements, and conferences
  • Ensure all marketing collateral (e.g., pitches, brochures, client presentations, industry materials, web content, etc.) is consistent, professionally formatted, and—where relevant—enhanced through effective design techniques
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned
