What are we looking for? The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing new business in support of our automotive fuels and lubricants testing laboratory in San Antonio, Texas. The lab focuses on development and validation of engines, fuels, lubricants and fuel/lubricant additives. It is estimated that this position will travel at least 50% of the time. Shift/Schedule: Standard first shift M-F with 50% travel Salary & Benefits Information The base wage or salary range for this position is $125k-175k with a 5% of sales bonus. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. What you’ll do:

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10+ years of experience in the automotive engine fuels, lubricants and/or fuel/lubricant additive field.
  • Working knowledge of global lubricant standards, organizational structure and demands.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in speaking the English, Spanish and Portuguese languages
  • Excellent inter-personal skills
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) skills
  • Must be available to travel to South America (particularly the Brazil, Columbia, and Chilean regions) at least 50% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree in Engineering
  • 20+ years engineering experience in the automotive fuels and lubricants field or 10+ years in sales/business development in the automotive fuels and lubricants field

Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Intertek fuel/lubricant/additive testing capabilities.
  • Work with lab management to develop selling strategies including suggestions for new services and pricing.
  • Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients.
  • Set up meetings between client decision makers and the appropriate Intertek personnel.
  • Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends.
  • Consult with engine test teams on business trends with a view to developing new services
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Submit weekly progress reports.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM system.
  • Work with lab management to develop sales targets.
  • Coordinate efforts with staff at other Intertek sites
  • Work with Intertek marketing staff to develop materials for the local market.
  • It is expected that travel to South America (particularly the Brazil, Columbia, and Chilean regions) will be at least 50% of the time.
