The Center for Technology Licensing at Cornell University seeks a Business Development and Licensing Associate for Life Sciences to join the Business Development and Licensing team at Cornell’s main campus in Ithaca, NY. Well-qualified candidates will possess prior experience in an academic technology transfer office and knowledge and training in the life sciences. The Role As an Associate for Business Development and Licensing, you will contribute your service-minded perspective to our collaborative environment that is advancing technology commercialization and partnerships. Under direction of the Business Development Director, you will collaborate with other team members in inventor engagement, technology and portfolio marketing, business development, and contracts for commercialization. Key responsibilities will include: Proactively expanding engagement with faculty, research staff, postdoctoral associates, and students as well as external stakeholders Reviewing and assessing new disclosures for assigned cases Working with a team to develop technology and portfolio marketing materials, manage or lead campaigns to showcase Cornell technologies and research, and conduct market research and analyses Identifying and establishing relationships with strategic industry partners and investors Supporting company and investor visits to campus and attending conferences and tradeshows to build long-term networks Participating in licensing negotiations and managing contract tasks About Us The Center for Technology Licensing (CTL) is Cornell University’s technology transfer office. CTL’s mission is to bring the University’s scientific discoveries, technological innovations, and medical advances to the marketplace for societal benefit and to foster new venture creation and growth to support economic development within New York State and across the nation. The office manages a broad array of technologies for Cornell’s various campuses, including the Ithaca campus, Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM), Cornell Tech in New York City, and Cornell AgriTech in Geneva. To bridge the gap between lab and market, business ideas, and successful startups, CTL also manages the university gap funding series and works closely with the university’s incubators and accelerators to advance commercialization, new ventures, and partnerships.
