About The Position

Luna Labs is a product development company working with leading organizations and key government agencies to create unique solutions for complex challenges in defense, industrial, and healthcare markets. We operate like a self-contained incubator for defense and biotech startups, taking solutions from concept through development to new products in the market. We leverage small business agility and large business capabilities to accelerate breakthrough solutions from concept to early-stage growth. Working with a robust global network of manufacturers, suppliers, licensees, and distributors, Luna Labs develops everything from small-scale prototypes to market-ready products. This internship offers hands-on exposure to business development, research, and strategy within the defense and healthcare technology sectors. Designed for a second-year MBA student, it's an opportunity to apply and sharpen your skills alongside senior leadership — contributing to real initiatives while gaining insight into how research and development shape a company’s products and direction. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in business development, market research, and project management, paired with an entrepreneurial mindset and genuine curiosity about science, R&D, or engineering-driven businesses.

  • Experience in business development, strategy, consulting, or a related field (through internships, full-time roles, or coursework)
  • Must be able to work 40 hours/week M-F, June 1 – August 14th
  • Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. Citizenship is a firm requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on familiarity with AI tools and a curiosity for how they can be applied to business problems — from market research and synthesis to drafting and analysis
  • Comfort working across technical and non-technical teams, with an ability to understand and translate complex capabilities into business or market terms. An undergraduate degree in science or engineering would be beneficial.
  • Proficient in building financial models and business cases in Excel or similar tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience developing presentations or executive-level materials

Responsibilities

  • Support strategic initiatives, market research, and business development
  • Assist with project management, client communications, and internal documentation
  • Contribute to marketing, product positioning, and storytelling efforts – including capability briefs, presentations, and customer-facing materials
  • Help maintain and track the business development pipeline, monitoring progress on active opportunities and flagging gaps or new prospects
  • Track industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activity; synthesize findings into concise reports and recommendations for leadership
  • Build financial models to evaluate business cases for new products, partnerships, or market entries
  • Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and project management teams to understand the company's technical capabilities and how they map to market opportunities
