About The Position

Camp Buckner is an interdenominational, recreational, faith-based retreat and conference center that serves churches, youth groups, businesses, and other ministries. As a Business Development and Volunteer Coordinator, you will manage an active sales pipeline, represent the organization through tours and events, and collaborate closely with the Sales and Marketing Manager and internal teams. The role also coordinates the full volunteer lifecycle to ensure a high-quality, service-driven experience that supports the mission and programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) plus administrative work experience required.
  • Prior business experience required; experience in sales, public relations, telephone communications, preparation of business correspondence, and community contact preferred.
  • Prior related experience in community education, coordination, training, and supervision preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including word, power point, and advanced excel applications.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage priorities effectively.
  • Experience with volunteer recruitment and team-building strategies.
  • Experience with database systems and VMS platforms preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires sensibility and adaptability to cultures representative of existing program locations.
  • Ability to partner with and influence others without direct authority; build consensus and look for collaboration with people from different functions and all levels required. Excellent team player.
  • Requires ability to function in a fast-paced, high volume, multi-faced, results-oriented work environment and to analyze issues, identify priorities, manage projects and make decisions expeditiously.

  • Requires the ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with an appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Camp Director, Assistant Director, and Sales and Marketing Manager to implement an effective business development strategy for booking needs at Camp Buckner.
  • Develop sales contracts utilizing Camp Buckner’s contract system.
  • Drive revenue growth by performing daily sales calls and in-person prospecting, focused on renewing existing contracts and developing new client relationships.
  • Maintain responsiveness by providing accurate responses to calls, emails, and leads within a 24 business hour timeframe.
  • Represent the organization at sales events, including luncheons, drop-in meetings, and conferences, with the objective of driving sales and expanding professional networks.
  • Build and maintain an active pipeline of group leads.
  • Conduct tours of Camp Buckner for current and potential stakeholders.
  • Solicit and secure groups via proactive, focused sales approaches using all available technology.
  • Organize, implement, and coordinate a comprehensive volunteer program at Camp Buckner. This includes all aspects of the volunteer life cycle including recruitment, screening, training, supervision, evaluation, and documentation in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and attend opportunities within the community (locally and statewide – churches, universities, and other potential collaborations) to educate prospective stakeholders about Camp Buckner, opportunities to engage and the overall mission and vision of Buckner International.
  • Collaborate with internal Buckner departments to identify and develop relationships with individuals, churches, schools, businesses, universities, and community organizations to further educate and resource Camp Buckner through attendance at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Travel as needed to monitor, assess and help develop programs with some overnight stays required.
  • Liaise between Camp Buckner and the communications department on the development of marketing materials and branding to increase awareness and drive business.
