About The Position

The Business Continuity Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the resilience of our healthcare system by supporting the business continuity planning and disaster recovery efforts across our hospitals, clinics and other system functions. This position involves working closely with various departments to identify risks, develop and implement business continuity strategies, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare, with specific experience in business continuity planning, risk management, and emergency preparedness. As a Business Continuity Coordinator, you will: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of business continuity plans for the healthcare system, including hospitals, clinics, and administrative functions. Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical functions, dependencies, and vulnerabilities within the healthcare system. Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to develop and test disaster recovery and emergency response strategies. Provide support in the development and execution of business continuity training, exercises, and simulations for staff across the healthcare system. Ensure that business continuity plans comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS). Monitor and report on the effectiveness of business continuity plans and recommend improvements as needed. Maintain documentation and records related to business continuity plans, exercises, and incidents. Act as a liaison with external partners, including emergency management agencies, vendors, and contractors, to coordinate business continuity efforts. Support the continuous improvement of the healthcare system's overall resiliency through regular reviews and updates of business continuity plans and strategies.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in business administration, healthcare management, emergency management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business continuity planning, risk management, or emergency management within a healthcare setting.
Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and standards related to business continuity and emergency management.
Experience conducting business impact analyses and risk assessments within a healthcare environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in business continuity software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

Experience with incident command systems (ICS) and the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).
Relevant business continuity certifications preferred, such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP), Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP), or Healthcare Business Continuity Management (HBCM).
Previous experience working in a large healthcare system or multi-hospital environment.
Knowledge of information technology disaster recovery (ITDR) as it relates to healthcare operations.
