About The Position

In support of organization strategies, this role will be responsible for the development, support and implementation of an enterprise-wide Business Continuity strategy defined by leadership. The individual will serve as the business resource with business units regarding the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of all business continuity, recovery and crisis management plans. In collaboration with the IT Disaster Recovery Lead, the role will also serve as a business system's analyst for the disaster recovery software application.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience (for Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in the field of business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management or other related field (for Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience (for Sr. Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a business continuity role (for Sr. Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience (for Lead Business Continuity Analyst).
  • 4+ years of experience in a business continuity role with demonstrated proficiency administrating business continuity programs, with the workforce and workplace resiliency being top of mind (for Lead Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Experience with risk management to identify and analyze risk followed by recommendations on how to mitigate the risk (for Lead Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Strong business knowledge and perspective to understand complex information to develop recommendations; proven ability to collect and analyze data to identify solutions (for Lead Business Continuity Analyst).
  • Strong problem-solving skills to recognize patterns in data or events and to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action and to plan and implement policies and procedures (required for every level).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in personal computer skills; experience using Microsoft Office software products; proficiency in keying and software program features based on required assessments (required for every level).
  • User expertise and experience with software application programs or a strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new systems quickly (required for every level).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including, but not limited to, writing reports, emails and documents for internal/external audiences, and presenting to various internal audiences (required for every level).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships of trust (required for every level).
  • Project management and leadership skills to plan workflow, manage projects, prepare documentation and resolve conflicting demands; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently (required for every level).
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis situations and prioritizing under extreme time pressures (required for every level).
  • Travel required 5-10% (required for every level).
  • Has a valid driver's license (required for every level).
  • Must be available 24/7 to respond to security/emergency situations. Has on-call responsibilities (required for every level).

  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement Wellmark’s enterprise-wide business continuity plans.
  • Facilitate business impact analysis and risk assessment with business stakeholders across the organization, to identify critical business functions and associated dependencies required for business sustainability.
  • Identify vulnerabilities associated with critical assets and develop options to provide continued availability of business functions.
  • Facilitate business continuity methodologies and strategies by integrating business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to collaborate and provide inputs on disaster recovery strategies and exercises.
  • Consult with stakeholders to define detailed requirements and develop technical solutions in the business continuity management system.
  • Coordinate integrated testing efforts for all business continuity programs and document executive authorizations needed during a disruption.
  • Provide recommendations and assist in the development of business continuity plans, strategies, procedures, and report all aspects of business continuity efforts to leadership.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all levels of leadership and employees.
  • Assess the business continuity implications for proposed technology or organizational changes, and coordinate any revisions to existing business continuity plans and procedures.
  • Assist business partners in resolving business issues related to work area recovery planning and plan development.
  • Ensure all technical components of business continuity plans are successfully tested and applicable changes are implemented.
  • Plan and coordinate simulated company exercises every two years, involving all critical business departments.
  • Document results of all tests and exercises and identify any recommended enhancements to the business continuity plans and procedures.
  • Serve as a key contributor for hot site planning efforts to ensure test meets all contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audit evaluations, self-assessments and notification tests to ensure compliance.
  • Provide 24/7 on call support during any emergency which may require activation of all or part of the Business Continuity Plans.
  • Provide support during a crisis event to operational, tactical, or strategic levels to ensure that leaders throughout the organization have sufficient support and are aware of the business continuity resources that are available.
  • Evaluate emerging business recovery technology, services, and coordinate implementation of appropriate systems to maintain corporate recovery plans.
  • Provide coaching, instruction, training, and business expertise to other Business Continuity team members.
