About The Position

David Zwirner seeks a Business Associate at its New York location. This role will support the Chief Operating Officer in their oversight of global gallery operations with a key emphasis on legal, insurance, and real estate matters. This position is scheduled Monday - Friday, 10am - 6pm, with a hybrid work schedule. Candidates must be diligent, extremely organized, and possess excellent time management and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field.
  • Ability to read, review, and analyze large volumes of legal documents and contracts.
  • 3+ years of art industry experience preferred.
  • Candidate must be focused, reliable, and have an interest in art business.
  • Candidate needs to be efficient, able to multitask, and prioritize.
  • Must be able to work and communicate well with team members at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in insurance, especially fine arts insurance, is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support the registration and sales teams in reviewing and negotiating contracts for gallery transactions, including loans and consignments, and third-party exhibition and collaboration agreements;
  • Liaise with external counsel on art law-related matters;
  • Draft and assist with legal documents and contracts for special projects and exhibitions.
  • Manage gallery-wide insurance policies and renewals in coordination with the COO;
  • Liaise with internal departments to gather information and documentation for renewal processes;
  • Track and maintain insurance and lease renewal schedules;
  • Review documents to ensure compliance with applicable insurance policies.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to draft and review specialized terms and conditions for gallery invoices and purchase agreements, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and alignment with gallery priorities.
  • Ad hoc projects as needed.
