About The Position

The Business Assistant I provides support for business, personnel and program support for the Field Operations Department at the Region level. These duties include processing & examining payment vouchers, payroll & leave records, mileage reports, credit card/fuel card vouchers and travel vouchers. Duties also include customary interaction with clientele and performing activities typically associated with business & administrative functions. This position will be located in either Henderson or Carthage.

Requirements

  • Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required Experience: Minimum of one year in general office and customer service or accounting and customer service.
  • Required Knowledge: Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Required Skills: Sound judgement. Great attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Highly self motivated.
  • Required Abilities: Plan and organize. Work independently and on team projects. Perform most duties with minimal instruction and supervision with a high degree of accuracy in a time sensitive environment. Willing to learn. Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Registrations, Certifications and Licenses: Valid Texas Driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: Associate degree in business or closely related field.
  • Preferred Experience: 1+ year's experience in general office and customer service or accounting and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for business, personnel and program support for the Field Operations Department at the Region level. Process and examine payment vouchers, payroll & leave records, mileage reports, credit card/fuel card vouchers and travel vouchers for accuracy, completeness, eligibility and conformance with State statutes, System policies and agency procedures. Customary interaction with clientele and performs activities typically associated with business and administrative functions. Maintains fiscal, administrative, personnel and program records. Provides assistance with common issues relating to HR, IR, fiscal procedures, TFS policy & procedures and TFS programs. General knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Participate in agency-sponsored training programs and activities to support program initiatives. Serve as a backup for other support staff personnel when short-staffed. May require infrequent travel in State vehicles with overnight stays.
  • Provide support on local, regional and/or statewide emergency response operations.
  • Provide support for other agency departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
