MITRE's Strategic Management Systems team partners with government agencies to plan and align people, processes, and IT solutions to meet legislation requirements, business goals, and objectives. They help Federal sponsors improve agency performance and achieve their mission through strategic & performance planning, progress measurement, analysis, and use of performance information. As a Business and Technology Strategist, Intern, you will work on a team to provide technical capabilities in the area of strategic management and support the development of strategic guidance for senior level sponsors, customers, and other federal or industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Sustained excellence in academic performance.
  • Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Computer Science, Applied Data Sciences, Business Management and/or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
  • Ability to deliver rigorous analyses and evaluations on programmatic and management topics including investment recapitalization.
  • Documented success designing standards, formulating guidance and deploying process improvement initiatives for large Federal agencies
  • Prior application experience; working within a team or project setting, development of written papers and oral presentations.
  • Ability to conduct research and present findings and recommendations that effectively communicate key messages.
  • Demonstrated interest in serving the public
  • Experience documented success designing and implementing mission-based capabilities assessments.
  • Hands on proficiency with tools such as UML / SysML, Python, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Google Suite
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma

Responsibilities

  • Helping sponsors define and prioritize their vision, mission and business goals;
  • Clarifying performance outcomes and capabilities required to achieve those outcomes;
  • Supporting the development of agency-wide or government-wide strategic and transition planning activities;
  • Contributing to the development of enterprise performance management & measurement plans;
  • Establishing enterprise governance with associated practices and mechanisms;
  • Formulating enterprise portfolio planning and investment management strategies.
