About The Position

This year PG&E is continuing to enhance the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) process, a critical tool in which lines are de-energized during times of extreme fire danger to prevent utility ignitions. The PSPS Team is responsible for successfully executing de-energization events. This includes determining potential event scope, developing tools to assist with decision making, overall process development and refinement, and pre-planning and coordination across all teams involved in a PSPS event. Preparing for PSPS events is a significant effort as PG&E works in partnership with its customers, regulatory entities, civic leaders, and community leaders to reduce wildfire threats. The dedicated Project Management Office (PMO) works to effectively manage PSPS readiness across workstreams, and oversees a number of activities, including:  PSPS Program design and decision making processes PSPS regulatory compliance reporting PSPS Restoration strategy Training for and execution of PSPS events within the Emergency Operations Center environment Stakeholder engagement   Each workstream includes numerous specific initiatives with the common goal of preparing for and successfully executing PSPS events. Members of the PMO team are responsible for leading the overall PSPS work across all workstreams, monitoring progress, handling resourcing needs including providing additional resources when needed, and directing workstreams as issues arise.     PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.    The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.52 to $35.37

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, technology or related at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ADA, WCAG 2.1+, and Section 508
  • Hands-on experience with accessible document remediation (PDFs, Office files)
  • Familiarity with tools like Adobe Acrobat Pro, PAC, screen readers (JAWS/NVDA/VoiceOver), and accessibility checkers
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured standards
  • Ability to work with non-technical staff to fix content issues upstream

Responsibilities

  • Review, remediate, and validate accessibility of publicly posted documents (PDFs, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and web-based materials.
  • Conduct accessibility testing using automated tools and manual testing techniques, including assistive technologies where appropriate.
  • Support and configure enterprise platforms that publish or store public content (e.g.,document management systems, SharePoint, customer‑facing portals).
  • Partner with application owners and vendors to address accessibility gaps in platforms and templates.
  • Recommend system enhancements or configurations to reduce recurring accessibility issues.
  • Develop and maintain accessibility standards, templates, and technical guidance for document and content creators.
  • Support accessibility audits and regulatory inquiries by providing documentation, remediation tracking, and technical evidence.
  • Establish repeatable remediation workflows and quality controls for new and existing content.
  • Demonstrates strong documentation, written and organization skills to support regulatory filings and other various data requests.
  • Ability to work comfortably with and manage large datasets with a strong attention to detail and data integrity.
