To learn more: www.sony.com/en. POSITION SUMMARY Sony Corporation of America (SCA) has an excellent opportunity for a Business Affairs Attorney. The SCA Legal Department provides comprehensive, proactive legal services to internal clients and coordinates closely with the legal teams of our affiliates. We work in a fast paced, hands-on, small team environment, where being both a self-starter and team player is critical. This role will require 3 days in person at the 25 Madison office.

Requirements

  • Requires a J.D. with strong academic performance, with membership in good standing in at least one state (preferably New York)
  • Requires a minimum of four (4) years of transactional experience working in a well-respected law firm or large corporation. A mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred
  • A proven ability to master complex legal requirements, learn quickly, and interact easily with all levels of employees
  • Experience meeting tight deadlines while simultaneously prioritizing multiple projects is essential
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, comprehensive interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work very closely with the business side and on project teams, and to approach issues with a strategic focus
  • Experience negotiating and drafting complex commercial contracts is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the USA.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with transactions in the technology, entertainment, sports and fund industries is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support on all aspects of mergers, acquisitions, venture capital and fund investments, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions
  • Review and advise on documents relating to corporate venture capital and fund investments
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts
  • Provide legal services to assigned internal client groups, as well as supporting SCA attorneys on other assignments
  • Support the corporate secretary function for various Sony entities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
