Requirements

  • All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom
  • Master’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education; or Bachelor’s in any of the above; and Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
  • A valid California Community College Credential
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency). ( Note: If the degrees posted on your transcript(s) do not match exactly as stated above, you must petition for equivalency.)

  • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
  • Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one’s instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
  • Related work and professional experience
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills in the classroom and with other professionals
  • Effective presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, and administrators
  • Knowledge of and ability to integrate relevant computer technology into the classroom curriculum
  • Work experience and/or higher education teaching experience in business
  • Professional experience in the business field (accounting, finance, management, entrepreneurship, etc.) with at least two years in a supervisory/management position
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), social media, etc.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience teaching in non-traditional instructional approaches and modes, including experiential learning, competency-based learning, project-based learning, online learning, multi-media systems, and hybrid delivery
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining community and/or industry partnerships
  • Experience in building new academic programs, including curriculum development that meets the changing needs of employers and the business world
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching and professional development
  • Demonstrated ability to impart excitement, enthusiasm, and engender student success
  • Thorough understanding and use of current technology in the areas of small business management, entrepreneurship, marketing, operations, social media, and mobile technology
  • Ability to offer curriculum and instruction activities through distance education delivery modes as appropriate
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals
