About The Position

Our Operators serve as true ambassadors being the daily face representing Keolis and Tri Delta Transit throughout the community, ensuring our riders are receiving a safe, courteous, and on-time service while riding fixed route, paratransit, microtransit or non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT).

Requirements

  • Must be minimum 21 years of age
  • 3 years verifiable valid California Class B Commercial Drivers license (CDL) with air brake and Passenger "P" Endorsement
  • Must have a current Verification of Transit Training certificate
  • Successful completion of Keolis provided Customer Service Training
  • Must have clean driving record – DMV printout required for the last 10 years
  • Must have stable work history
  • First Aid Certification (Provided by the Company) is required for employees operating the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) service

Responsibilities

  • Complete pre-trip vehicle inspection checks to ensure all equipment, including the wheelchair lift, is operational and safe prior to entering revenue service, including relief pre-trip vehicle inspections when relieving another driver for a scheduled end of shift.
  • Complete a post-trip vehicle inspection upon completion of the service day, checking for lost and found items, closed windows and hatches, cut seats, graffiti or other acts of vandalism, and damages to vehicle interior or exterior not previously noted on the vehicle damage report.
  • Turn in lost and found items to dispatch.
  • Distribute notices to passengers, participate in special passenger counts, and assist in monitoring and supervision of ECCTA operations upon request by Eastern Contra Costa Transit Authority (ECCTA).
  • Honor special passes as directed by ECCTA.
  • Ensure cash is correctly inserted into fareboxes and issue credit tickets when applicable, without handling cash or making change.
  • Record accurate ridership counts by passenger category on GFI Fareboxes or other counting devices provided on the buses.
  • Log into Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), Clipper units, and fareboxes using accurate route and run information at the start of each shift.
  • Verify the accuracy of the headsign at each route terminus and report any malfunctioning or incorrect headsigns to maintenance in writing as soon as possible.
  • Refer to the MDT at all times during service to maintain accurate adherence to the scheduled route time and trip manifest.
  • Wear uniforms at all times while in service and display a clean and professional appearance.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and sanitary during their shift.
  • Ensure customers feel welcome.
  • Effectively communicate with passengers, especially in the event of service disruptions.
  • Provide passengers with assistance as needed.
  • Accommodate passengers with information such as schedule, guidance, etc.
  • Ensure safe on-road operations while maintaining on-time performance.
  • Be familiar with assigned routing and detours.
  • Be aware of ADA Policies and Procedures.
  • Understand ADA Compliance.
  • Properly operate all wheelchair lifts, for each bus model.
  • Report immediately to dispatch any vehicular accident or passenger incident and follow the incident and accident reporting procedures.
  • Comply with the rules, laws and regulations relating to road safety.
  • Report any situation posing a risk to road safety to supervisor.
  • Promote road safety when driving a vehicle.
