About The Position

Assists the bus driver in supervising, loading, and unloading students. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operates the bus and carry out duties on schedule and in a prompt and efficient manner. Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus. Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus. Assists in the pickup and delivery of students from/to parent, guardian, or authorized individual. Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion. Provides written records of violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor. Collects and turns over to the designated school personnel those personal items left on the bus by students. Performs related duties as assigned. Follows the chain of command when dealing with issues related to the Transportation Department.

Requirements

Knowledge of: Safe practices concerning school bus transportation.
Basic record-keeping techniques.
Applicable sections of the KAR and other applicable laws.
Health and safety regulations.
Ability to: Maintain proper records and documentation.
Assist student loading, unloading, and seating arrangements as required.
Understand and relate to children with special needs.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Lift students according to established guidelines.
Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures.
Maintain routine records.
Observe health and safety regulations.
Set a professional example at all times.
High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
Meets the requirements for a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky State Law.
Meets all state and local physical examination and health requirements.
Participates in and successfully completes training programs as specified by the Kentucky Department of Education and local district.
