The Cook County Bureau of Asset Management is seeking a Bureau Chief, Asset Management, responsible for directing and managing the development of policies, standards, and strategic plans related to the County’s real estate, facilities, capital projects, and asset management functions. The role collaborates with department leadership to establish strategic platforms that support real estate, asset, and business objectives, and oversees the supervision and implementation of asset management activities across departments and business units. Responsibilities include initiating and overseeing policy development, establishing procedures and protocols, recommending budgets, supervising staff, and ensuring operations align with departmental best practices and strategic goals. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher and
  • Five (5) years of experience in real estate, construction management, facilities management, or directly related experience or
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Ability to provide direction and guidance to other leaders in the organization, with overall responsibility for a major operational area.
  • Knowledge of all organization capabilities and how they interrelate.
  • Skill in monitoring and assessing the performance of individuals, programs and contracted services.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and guide leaders at all levels to achieve organization-wide goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of budgeting practices and policies.
  • Ability to act independently to resolve problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and provide guidance to achieve strategic objectives, with the highest-level of strategic decision making.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in real estate, construction management, or facilities management.
  • Eight (8) years of previous management experience.
  • Licensed in Real Estate.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate policies and strategic plans in collaboration with senior leadership to develop asset management strategies and objectives.
  • Collaborate with managers, supervisors, professional consultants, contractors, elected officials and external agencies to coordinate County real estate asset management.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of various asset related programs, policies and projects.
  • Determine the development and implementation process related to asset management, including property acquisition, facility management, lease options, and capital projects.
  • Leverage expertise in business requirements and strategic planning to influence decisions related to real estate asset management.
  • Exercise global understanding and influence technical and business issues related to real estate asset management and operations.
  • Oversee the budget preparation process for all department unit providing real estate asset management services and operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
