About The Position

Role Overview Keep Core Natural Resources’ terminal running at peak reliability. You will provide hands-on mechanical maintenance and, when needed, operate mobile equipment to move coal efficiently from rail to vessel. Your work directly supports safe, continuous operations across our bulk-handling systems. A Day in the Life You arrive to review the Safe Work Instruction Program and conduct a safety walkdown of your area. A conveyor fault is first on the list—you read prints and schematics, isolate the issue, and return the line to service. Later, you complete bearing work on a drive assembly, perform a motor alignment, and fabricate a small guard using oxy/acetylene and multi-position welding. When vessel loading ramps up, you step in to operate a forklift and JLG man-lift to support coal transshipment from rail to ship. Throughout the shift, you document findings, communicate clearly with operations, and ensure the terminal’s equipment is functioning properly. What You’ll Tackle Deliver mechanical maintenance that maximizes terminal availability and reliability Operate mobile equipment (forklift, manual shift truck, JLG man-lift, crane truck) as needed to support rail-to-vessel transfers Read and interpret prints, schematics, manuals, and drawings for troubleshooting Perform welding with oxy/acetylene; execute multi-angle, multi-thickness welds Lay out work and fabricate components for minor equipment repairs and improvements Complete pre-job safety reviews and follow the Safe Work Instruction Program Cross-train and occasionally operate loaders, dozers, locomotives, and cranes Work independently and make sound decisions under varying conditions What You Bring 3+ years of experience that includes machine maintenance Millwright-related experience (bearing replacement, motor alignment) preferred Proficiency with common hand tools; strong mechanical and fabrication skills Rigging knowledge and experience working around cranes and hoists Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks Solid interpersonal and written communication skills; clear, concise documentation Basic math competency Comfort in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime Proficiencies Heavy equipment repair Mechanical troubleshooting Troubleshooting industrial automation equipment Machine safety inspections Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Tools & Technology Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) – basic diagnostics and interface use Conveyor systems – operation, inspection, and maintenance Our Values At Core Natural Resources, we live by Safety, Sustainability & Continuous Improvement. You’ll champion these values every shift as we move materials safely and efficiently.
