About The Position

The incumbent will be responsible for safely operating the Authority’s trash truck while providing prompt and courteous waste removal services for all properties and residential clients. Must conduct daily vehicle checks to confirm vehicle complies with company safety standards, and state and federal regulations. Incumbent will be subject to the following physical demands and environments: hazardous and adverse conditions, inclement weather and outside elements, city traffic, moving mechanical parts, lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, twisting, etc. This is a seasonal and full-time position. (Not to exceed 9 months).   • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid operator’s license
  • A minimum of one-year experience.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to HAP’s safety policy and prescribed ergonomic and lifting procedures as outlined by OSHA and the CDC.
  • Practice safety precautions while driving and providing waste removal services.
  • Always remain aware of surroundings. (Pedestrians, spatial awareness, weather conditions, etc.)
  • Inspect truck, equipment, and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water, and all fluids and performs pre and post trip inspections.
  • Operate the Authority’s trash truck, pickup truck with flatbed (F150).
  • Survey grounds and onsite dumpster areas for bulk items and debris at all Authority properties.
  • Safely remove bulk items and debris from all Authority properties and transport to waste center.
  • Prioritize removing debris and bulk items from vacant units as assigned.
  • Communicate when assistance is needed to remove large and/or heavy items.
  • Provide good customer services skills; be courteous, professional, honest, and trustworthy.
  • Demonstrate strong time management skills with the ability to follow through.
  • Safely drive assigned vehicles to and from various properties.
  • Maintain a clean and presentable work vehicle by performing regular checks, inspections and keeping vehicle free of trash, clutter, etc.
  • Notify management of needed for repairs, safety issues or complaints.
  • Contribute to the mission with innovative actions and ideas.
  • Performs other related duties of the class, as required.
