About The Position

The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the full-time position of Building Service/Grounds Maintenance Worker within the Building Maintenance Department. This position is responsible for completing custodial tasks and maintaining the grounds of the new Liberty County Health Department to ensure a safe and clean environment for employees and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • More than one (1) year of related experience required.
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of county safety policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and cleaning practices.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling procedures to avoid injuries.
  • Knowledge of the use of chemicals, avoiding dangerous interactions, and proper disposal methods.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  • Skill in operating a variety of cleaning, landscaping, and maintenance equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in operating a variety of cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Skill in working independently.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general cleaning and dusting of the county facility to include entryway floors and doors, bathrooms, trash receptacles, hallways, elevators, and stairways.
  • Cleans and sanitizers restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals, toilets, countertops, empty trash and replenishes supplies in restroom.
  • Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, and buffs floors, vacuums and shampoo carpet.
  • Sweeps and mops inmate areas.
  • Dusts furniture, window blinds, baseboards walls, windows, and pictures, frames, bookshelves, washes windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other surfaces as needed.
  • Cleans meeting rooms, courtrooms, hallways, offices, kitchens, and other areas.
  • Sets up and takes down equipment, tables, and chairs for meetings and events.
  • Notifies supervisor of extensive repairs needed.
  • Maintains assigned equipment, tools, materials, and inventory.
  • Mows, edges, and fertilizes lawns, weed and mulch, landscape beds, trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
  • Removes dead, damaged, or unwanted trees and shrubs.
  • Rakes and removes leaves, twigs, and other landscape debris from lawn areas, plant beds, walkways, and parking areas.
  • Prunes and trims damaged limbs and branches on trees and shrubs, hand-edges all plant and tree beds; power-edges all walkways and parking areas.
  • Removes onsite litter and light debris using a broom, spike stick, or trash picker.
  • Completes daily inspection of county vehicle and sixteen-foot trailer to haul equipment.
  • Washes and inspects other county vehicles as needed.
  • Paints parking lot lines and curbs when needed.
  • Performs related duties.
