BUILDING PERFORMANCE ANALYST Kirksey Architecture is seeking a Building Performance Analyst to join our Design Studio and work with Kirksey designers, architects, and project consultants to influence project designs to meet or exceed performance goals. POSITION OVERVIEW The Building Performance Analyst will assess the energy performance of early design schemes, analyze daylight, views, and thermal comfort, conduct whole building lifecycle assessments and product embodied carbon comparisons, evaluate photovoltaic feasibility, and create required documentation for LEED and other green building rating system compliance. As an integral member of Kirksey’s design studio, responsibilities will include sustainability and building performance research, post-occupancy evaluations, and training architectural staff on building performance modeling software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Sciences, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in building performance analysis or energy modeling.
  • Proficiency in building performance modeling software (e.g., Forma, IESVE, Sefaira, or ClimateStudio) and daylight and thermal comfort analysis tools (e.g., ClimateStudio, Radiance, Honeybee, or SimScale).
  • Familiarity with whole building life cycle assessment tools (e.g., EC3, c.scale, Tally, OneClick LCA).
  • Experience with BIM platforms (e.g., Revit) and parametric modeling tools (e.g., Rhino/Grasshopper).
  • Knowledge of green building certifications such as LEED, WELL, and Living Building Challenge.
  • Ability to learn new software, building codes, and standards quickly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with energy modeling software (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE, OpenStudio) and daylight analysis tools (e.g., ClimateStudio, Radiance, Honeybee).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct whole-building energy modeling for compliance with standards such as ASHRAE 90.1 and LEED certification.
  • Perform daylight and solar radiation analysis, thermal comfort studies, and lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Evaluate building envelope performance, HVAC system efficiency, and renewable energy feasibility (e.g., solar PV).
  • Collaborate with design teams to integrate performance-driven strategies and provide actionable insights.
  • Develop reports and visual representations to communicate analysis results to internal teams and clients.
  • Support the development of BIM-based analysis tools and standardized modeling practices.
  • Assist in managing documentation for green building certifications (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, etc.).
  • Conduct post-occupancy evaluations and performance benchmarking.
