Under general supervision, performs a variety of semiskilled maintenance, construction, and repair work on District buildings, structures and related equipment; assists Building Maintenance Technicians in performing maintenance and new construction tasks throughout District facilities including, but not limited to remodels, finished and rough plumbing, pouring concrete, setting forms for curbs and gutters, framing and finished carpentry, painting, roofing and related skilled trades areas; and performs related work as required. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS : This is a qualified journey-level classification responsible for independently performing semi-skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work on District buildings, structures, and related equipment in support of the building maintenance function; assists skilled trades workers. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
