About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is currently searching for a qualified and very responsible Building Maintenance Specialist to oversee facility maintenance and fulfill other facility maintenance duties as assigned. This position is involved in the daily repairs of plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), kitchen equipment repairs, and utility service systems within Arizona State Prison Complex - Safford. Requirements

  • Knowledge of structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codes
  • Knowledge of trades, e.g., electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Knowledge of budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materials
  • Knowledge of common and specialized tools and equipment for performing duties
  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulations
  • Skill in basic reading of blueprints, schematics, and general construction
  • Skill in mechanical devices, electrical, preventative maintenance
  • Skill in using and demonstrating the use of common and specialized tools
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Skill in building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to lift/Carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to Push/Pull up to 50lbs
  • Ability to Walk/Run up to 0.25 miles
  • Ability to Work in a prison environment
  • Ability to Supervise inmate work crews
  • Ability to Learn and adhere to ADCRR policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • On-the-job training as a technical or generalized maintenance staff person

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material list, equipment and needs
  • Performs maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks as required and scheduled
  • Completes related documentation as required by policy, and as directed by supervisor
  • Basic knowledge of office equipment to include computers, internet research, and completion of documents
  • Inspects and maintain tools, and equipment to ensure proper working order, and all are accounted for
  • Supervises and evaluates inmate workers’ performance
  • Attends staff meetings, and training as required
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
