About The Position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform all Building & Maintenance labor related duties required in any City department. Receive and perform verbal and written orders from Mayor, General Foreman, and Building & Maintenance Foreman or as designated. Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and reported to the Supervisor or person in charge. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent. Must have knowledge and experience in building maintenance. Knowledge of 110 electric and plumbing preferred. Must have proven finished carpentry experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have, or be able to obtain within 90 days, a valid Class B CDL driver’s license. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to get along well with others, follow instructions and perform all related duties assigned. Must be professional, pleasant, well-groomed, and well-mannered. Must be able to climb ladders and work around heavy machinery. Must be able to read and communicate in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers, other departments, and the general public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions, and perform all duties as assigned. Must be willing to perform less skilled or any other miscellaneous duties as required in the same or other departments. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to take physical exam. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands and arms. Must be able to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, bend, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift and pull 50 lbs. and lift and pull up to 100 lbs with mechanical or physical assistance. This is a Full Time position that includes a full benefit package including employer paid Medical, Vision, Dental, Employee Life, Short Term Disability; participation in the IAM National Pension and the Indiana Public Employee Retirement Fund; 13 paid Holidays; and paid time off.
