About The Position

Join the City of Laguna Beach as a Building Inspector and ensure the safety and compliance of buildings in our community! In this role, you will perform inspections of new and existing structures, enforce building codes, and collaborate with property owners, contractors, and designers to uphold construction standards. Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent; coursework in building code and related subjects beyond high school is desirable.
• Construction inspection experience required; at least two years of responsible municipal and building inspection preferred.
• Due to the performance of some field duties, which may require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
• Certification by the International Code Council as a building inspector is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with building codes and approved plans.
• Communicating code requirements to homeowners, contractors, and designers.
• Investigating complaints and enforcing regulations as needed.
• Performing plan reviews and assisting with special assignments.
• Supervising and mentoring building inspectors.
