What you'll do - a day in the life of a Building Inspector As a Building Inspector, you'll be responsible for inspecting a variety of building permits issued by Roosevelt City - residential, duplex, mobile homes, modular homes, demolition permits, sign permits, and more. You'll verify compliance with city building and zoning ordinances, ensure safety standards are met for water, sewer, utility connections, foundation and structure, and review owner-builder contracts when applicable. On a typical day, you might visit a residential or commercial building site, inspect ongoing construction or remodels, review permit applications, check compliance with local codes and utility requirements (like meter placement or sewer backwater devices), and document your findings - all to ensure safe, code-compliant construction that meets the City's standards.

Requirements

• Relevant experience with building inspections or construction oversight.
• Familiar with building codes, residential and commercial permit requirements, utility and zoning regulations
• Able to conduct site inspections professionally and thoroughly.
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication
• Ability to work independently and with municipal staff
