About The Position
New Flyer, the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in North America, is looking for a Building Grounds Maintenance Assistant for the 1st Shift to join our team. The Building Grounds Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the outdoor areas of our facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment for all employees and visitors. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Some experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping is desirable.
- Ability to use groundskeeping tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Attention to detail with a strong work ethic.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaborating with a team.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, and landscaping of outdoor areas.
- Maintain and operate groundskeeping equipment including mowers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Report maintenance issues and safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
- Assist with snow removal and ice control efforts during the winter months.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines in all maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure the efficient operation of facility grounds.
- Keep inventory of all grounds maintenance supplies and report when reorders are necessary.
