About The Position

Menlo, a leading managed information technology services provider to K-12 education and civic entities, is seeking a highly motivated Building Facilities Associate to join our team. Based in the Crossroads Arts District near Downtown Kansas City, this role is key to ensuring the cleanliness, upkeep, and general maintenance of Menlo’s offices. The ideal candidate will be trustworthy, detail-oriented, organized, and skilled at multitasking. This role will require both cleaning and facilities maintenance responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to retain information quickly.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Self-motivated with excellent maintenance and cleaning skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of related work experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Fluent in English with proper written communication ability.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs minimum and maintain full mobility for building/grounds tasks.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building cleanliness with daily dusting, washing, vacuuming, and general cleaning of furniture, fixtures, equipment, walls, floors, and windows.
  • Clean and polish floors daily.
  • Perform garbage collection and disposal.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms (sinks, toilets, urinals); replenish supplies.
  • Replace light bulbs and tubes when needed.
  • Requisition custodial supplies; ensure proper care and usage of supplies/equipment.
  • Conduct monthly intensive cleaning (carpet, windows, wall and ceiling washing).
  • Perform all other cleaning duties as assigned.
  • General building and grounds upkeep.
  • Conduct monthly maintenance checks (fire alarms, elevators, extinguishers).
  • Manage vendor contracts for HVAC and elevator services.
  • Complete light repairs (paint, drywall, etc.).
  • Preventative maintenance on small equipment (coffee machines, kitchen chairs, etc.).
  • Perform basic plumbing and electrical work; escalate when advanced attention is required.
  • Support emergency maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Identify/report need for major repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
